PamPam Crewes

Pam has worked at the Resource Centre since the early days when we opened an office in 1999. She has been a Moat Board and Committee Member for many years but has now retired from these posts. She plans to concentrate her efforts on helping residents at the Centre and still plays her part by attending a number of working parties covering various issues.

RobertRobert Shanks

Robert has been the Chairman of MERA for the past 7 years and only recently stepped down from this post.  He has, however, agreed to act as Vice Chair – so we still have the benefit of his experience.  He was also a member of the Moat Finance Committee from which he has now retired.   He has been a volunteer at the Resource Centre for some years and has a wealth of experience and knowledge which enables him to assist residents with various problems.

DorisDoris Eaton

Doris has been an active member of MERA since the transfer from Maldon and has been a part of the volunteer team at the Resource Centre for many years.  Recently she was elected as the new Chair of MERA and, in this capacity, is closely involved with the work of the Resident Forum and other working groups.

Val Peters

I have C:\Users\MERA Main\Pictures\2010-09-23 volunteers pictures sept 2010\val2.JPGvolunteered in the British Heart Foundation shop in Maldon and worked there for 7 years, but I felt I needed a change.  I was recommended to the Resource Centre by Karen, another volunteer, and I am really enjoying my time here.  I was made to feel so welcome by everybody; I have met so many lovely people; it is like having another family.  I feel so valued with whatever I do and feel more confident in myself.  I am learning so much, my computer skills are much better and I thank everyone for that and hope I will be working here for a long time.

ShirleyShirley Freeman

Shirley moved to Maldon after having spent many years living in South Africa.  She and her husband Reg live in Great Totham and Shirley joined the volunteers at the Centre some few years ago.  She is a dab hand at assisting customers with the new Choice Based Letting system and has become highly proficient at most of the services offered at the centre.

Marian Salisbury

Marian joined the volunteers in early 2010 as she wished to - as she says -bring herself into the 21st century!  She has become a dab hand with most of the equipment at the cmarianentre and is fast becoming proficient on the computer.  She enjoys helping our customers and the company of the other volunteers.

Darren Peat

Darren joined us in early 2010 and, at first, was a very quiet young man.  He has now blossomed and has become an expert with the photocopier, laminator and binding machines. Most importantly, he has mastered the till and makes all our calldarreners very welcome.  Darren says he enjoys his work with us and we look forward to many more happy years.

Sue Roberts

Sue has now retired but has worked in the retail and catering trades.  She had heard of the work we do at the Centrsuee and offered her services as a volounteer.  She liked what she saw and finds that it gives her the opportunity to meet new people - getting her out of the house for several hours, while helping the general community.  Sue is a cat person - she currently has four and obviously loves them dearly.  Sue is rapidly coming to terms with all the equipment at the centre.

Carol King

Carol joined the team at the beginning of Septembecarolr.  She is married with two children and had been told of the chance to learn new skills at the Centre by her friend, one of our volunteeers, Angie.  She hopes to meet new people and learn as much as she can to help her with future possibilities for employment.  Carol has quickly learnt how to deal with most of the services on offer at the Centre and we know that she will prove a great addition to the team.

Pat HuntC:\Users\MERA Main\Desktop\pat1.JPG

I have lived in the Maldon area for about 20 years and, since retiring, needed to find things to do with my spare time.  The Resource Centre has been good for me; learning new skills and helping and meeting new people and making friends.

Tom Duggan

Tom has been a Moat resident for some 9 years. He was a hypnotherapist and psychoanalist for many years and has now retired.  Tom responded to our cries for more volunteers and has quickly settled into the routine of the office.  He saysC:\Users\MERA Main\Pictures\2010-10-26 volunteers\volunteers 003.JPG that he enjoys the company - the work helps to keep his brain ticking over and his life experience enables him to help our various customers.
