Committees and Forums
You will notice that the majority of working groups have now been discontinued under the new Resident Involvement policies adopted by Moat.
Many of our members feel that the provision for resident input and training has been severely restricted and fails to meet the true meaning of resident involvement.

Older Peoples Working Group
Report on Joint OPWG at Mariner House Tuesday 5th October 2010.
The meeting was well attended. A discussion was held as to what aims and objectives this group would have. The frequency of meetings was decided with the local OPWG on 6 – 8 weekly cycle, feeding into the Joint OPWG which will be held twice a year. Any decisions/issues will be raised with Senior Management and the MRF. Meeting length will be determined by length of agenda, but should not be any longer than 3 hours.
The Welfare of Residents/contact decline procedure and the Welcome Pack for Sheltered and supported housing were also discussed and many adjustments made. Opinions were sought as to whether Support Co-ordinators should work late one evening a month, or perhaps a Saturday morning, so that residents/relatives who are out during the week would have the opportunity to speak to them.
Residents were given draft documents to comment on and return by late October. These were: the OPWG “Aims and Objectives” and the “Local Offer”. Moat wish to adopt these in line with the “Tenant involvement and empowerment standard” set by the newly formed Home & Community Agency (formerly T.S.A) have.
